Why not CX? You could also do it on BR under the AA codeshare to TPE - BR's Premium Laurel is nice, and is better than AA new J (never flown AA F longhaul) and MUUCH better than current AA J on the 777. Not sure how you'd go about earning miles on the onward connection though; might have to do TPE-HKG-DPS on CX, which is a bit of a bummer. But something to consider; BR's a good value.
You could also consider a Circle Pacific Fare, but would it permit backgracking since there is no other way to do DPS-SYD?
