I will be renting a car at FCO next month. I went ahead and made a reservation with Hertz but it's somewhat more expensive than Europcar (and significantly more than "Car Italy" with which I have no experience). With the mandatory CDW in Italy this is not a cheap rental. I am Gold (who's not?) but no higher status with Hertz.

Does anyone have any experience with Hertz in Italy? I looked through a number of the threads here but didn't find much. My main reasons for choosing Hertz, other than some weak brand loyalty, are (i) the "confirmed" availability of Neverlost and (ii) some recourse with the American company in the event of a problem. I've had decent experiences with Hertz at other European airport locations (LHR and CDG) but never rented in Italy.

Any advice would be appreciated.
