I saw the Shuttle coming back from a mission one night about 5 years ago from my balcony in AUS. One the radio guys described it as like watching someone drawing an arc on the sky with an orange highlighter which was pretty apt. Then he pointed out they landed in Florida 20 minutes later - a trip that would have taken us all afternoon by commerical jet.
