OT: Vapour trails over London this morning

My friend and I had to stop twice on our commute into work, around 715am, just to stare at them. Across the clear blue sky were the most amazing streaks of white, fading at one end of the sky into a smudgy pink. I've seen them loads of times before, but today there was something about the light that made them breathtaking.

Two pin prick jets were heading more or less in parallel and it was as if the trails were being created out of nothing.

At first I thought it looked like chalk on a blackboard but then my colleague came up with a more apt metaphor: the devil was cutting two lines of Columbia's finest across across his blue glass coffee table (well, he lived in LA for a while!).

This is OT of course because I don't think any BA jets fly high enough over London to leave contrails.
