Ok, I just ordered the T-Mobile Curve. Threatening to cancel they gave it to me for $249.99.
The reason I went for it is to save on calls when traveling overseas. I confirmed with T-Mobile that calls originating on a Wi-Fi network overseas are not billed the overseas roaming rate. Without signing up for the Hotspot at Home service, Wi-Fi calls are counted as regular minutes; so it would just deduct minutes from my plan and not charge roaming ^ If this is the case, the phone could really pay for itself after one trip overseas.
It took several representatives to confirm this and they had to contact the "Hotspot @ Home Group" to find that out. The front line sales and billing folks don't seem to be fully up to speed yet with the details.
I'll report my results.
