I agree with the OP here about the change fee. I endure this issue weekly but my scenario is around being unable to book an earlier flight due to an illegal cnx time that I prove wrong every week. I get in a debate with the GA all the time on whether to charge me for the earlier flight. The success rate is high on not paying. With travelling for over 3+ yrs, getting home 1hr and 30mins earlier in the evening each week is a major quality of life enhancement. The $50 is ridiculous but on the rare occasions I pay it when insisted to.
