Trip back to TO same deal arrive early ask to get out ahead of schedule as delays are notorious, sorry must pay change fee, forget that as the tix were already too expensive...
Too d@mn cheap to spend $50 to get out on an earlier flight.
The T+ fare rules are very generous as they offer any Econ seat available for $50 flat fee. There is no change fee plus fare difference plus you get a confirmed seat on the flight.
If you don't feel it's worth $50 to go earlier, then either have the clairvoyance to plan an earlier flight at time of booking or be prepared to sit and wait in the airport.
FYI, I have used the $50 same day change fee about 3-4 times this year, all out of my own pocket. Spending a little personal cash to get there sooner is worth it in my opinion.
Things were a little different back in late 90s. In 1999 I spent $2500 to fly from YEG-YYZ on 3 days notice, and yes I got same day standby with the fare. This year I spent $1300 for YYC-YYZ return on 3 day notice with a T+ fare. I will take the $1200 savings and spend extra $50 for earlier flight if needed.
