Last year I had 26k miles by Feb. 6. I was already 1K, but I know what you mean.
You should write or call Mileage Plus and ask to see if they will give her some special consideration. But I doubt they'll comp to 1K; you'll prolly get 1P.
Then again, the trend lately has been to devalue the level, and hey it looks like UA will do anything for a buck these days.
