Was booked on UA6501 hop on Skywest/UAX from LAX-OAK, last flight of the night. Plane arrived, pax deplaned, everyone was ready to board. But no Boarding Call, then 15-20 min passed. Finally the GA informed us they were still waiting for the FA to show, no one had heard from her for the last hour and no one knew where she was. (We all hope nothing bad happened to her). Anyway, GA was waiting for news from Crew Central if there would be a replacement, then waited for almost 45 minutes past departure before the GA advised that the flight was cancelled.

Interesting though that some passengers either saw the cancellation on the departure monitors or were advised when they called in to reschedule fully 15 minutes before the GA told us. So yes, the advice to contact Res as soon as something is up with the flight is dead on.

I am rescheduled for the AM and sitting at the LAX Radisson, but no other compensation from UA. I sort of jokingly said we should get a skykit since the FA didn't work as advertised.

Anyway, point of the thread after the long setup is:

What weird, unusual, or crazy reasons have you come into that caused your flight to get cancelled or delayed substantially?
