But, as far as I can tell, the odd conversion occurs from Choice -> SWA RR, so the SPG -> Amtrak conversion should stay stable...
I'm willing to be the guinea pig for this - I just did a SPG to Amtrak redemption earlier this evening with no problems/objections from the SPG phone rep.
You are correct about the odd conversion being from Choice to SWA RR, this is extremely generous when you take into account the following from the Choice Rewards website, "Exchange 5,000 Choice Privileges points for 1,000 miles with Aeroplan®, Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan, the American Airlines AAdvantage® program, Continental Airlines OnePass®, Delta SkyMiles®, Frecuenta by Mexicana, Northwest Airlines® WorldPerks®, United Mileage Plus® or US Airways® Dividend Miles®. Or, redeem 5,000 Choice Privileges points for 2.0 Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards® credits." - I think that it's fair to say that most FT'ers think 2 RR credits are more valuable than 1K airline miles.
