FWIW, in mid september, booked SYD-SIN-BOM on a tuesday afternoon to fly out on Sunday, in M Class, called up KrisFlyer and waitlisted for upgrade to J using miles on SYD-SIN sector. Upgrade cleared by Thursday afternoon.

Worth noting, J was full (including myself).
