Transfer desk is within the secure area.
After you arrive in LA, check your gate information. You will know whether your flight is in main terminal or the remote terminal. If it's in remote terminal, you need to take a shuttle bus.
AA's LAX transfer is much easier than LHR. 1 hour 50 minutes should be fine.
