I also had this exact problem. Also saw an Indian women being argued for a medicine cream paste (that were >100ml, but small enough to fit is a small ziplock bag). My 150ml bottle of body wash was taken away though it fit into a plastic bag. Thankfully, it wasn't expensive one and I was more than halfway through.
