No way did the agent know about that. I think you're reading too much into what's going on.... Like it or not, the 45 minute rule is the 45 minute rule, and that includes waiting in line. She was doing you a favor for trying to get you on the 8pm flight -- and you got no worse (or better) service that anybody else would have received. I vote for just an honest mistake -- did she check on her monitor to see if the 8pm flight was available or did she just "know" that there was na 8pm flight.

What you could have done is say "Excuse me, I need to drop of my bags for the XXX flight" and they probably would (ok -- might) have seen you right away instead of having you wait in line for 10 minutes.

Now, it's OK to be upset and angry about the whole situation and the ludicrous "rules" ...
