I'm driving myself, so no rental car
This is a case of two people with very different travel neuroses taking a trip together. My friend is afraid of EVERYTHING except, for some odd reason, doing curbside check-in. I am afraid of NOTHING except having someone lose my bag.
I'm serious...my friend will be a sweaty wreck thinking everyone is a risky person, that every noise is immanent equipment failure, and every gust of wind or raindrop spells potential disaster until we deplane -- the whole purpose of this trip is to start to desensitize her to flying again. She wouldn't book on US, where we could have flown in F, because she read an article in the news about the maintenance on some US plane in CLT or something (you can see how little impact this tidbit had on me). She thinks because US is under bankruptcy protection that they are skimping on safety. So we have to fly TED(rar!). Anyway, since for whatever reason she is all chipper about doing UA curb-side check-in, then that's what we'll do.
I've got her on my PNR so we can go through the Premiere security lane together, and then my plan is to park her in the RCC with a drink. But I wonder if we can get wine that early in the morning? Oh well!
I know she sounds crazy, but I'm really proud of her. She recently HAD to go to New York, and survived that flight, and that's what prompted her to do some shorter trips with me so she could work on her fears.
Thanks for the info. I'll let you know how the trip works out. I'm sure everything will be fine. Our destination is LAS where tickets for "O," dinner at Michael Minna, and a suite at the Venetian are awaiting us. She figured that was enough of a motivation for her to get on a plane.
