If I'm understanding this correctly, then the way this currently works is AA gives 8 VIPs when qualification to EXP happens. The next set of eight would not happen until EXP qualification happens for the next year (if it happens at all).

For our insane mileage runner who qualifies for EXP on Jan 10, 2008, he would get 8 VIPs right away, and could expect to see no more VIPs until such time as he requalified for EXP in 2009. This means the insane 2008 mileage run would generate an amazing 26 months of EXP status (wow!), it would only generate 8 VIPs. It would take additional travel in 2009 to generate more VIPS.

And as far as VIPs are concerned, the March date currently means nothing.

Is this all accurate?
