Have them look at SFO-HNL on AA, HNL-KIX on Jalways, and then KIX-DPS on Jalways. You might need to overnight along the way. I'm doing a similar routing (minus that last segment) to the Olympics in Beijing. Assuming you've checked on the nonstops from the west coast to Asia (did you look at Vancouver?), you might have a better shot with this.

If you download the One World timetable and input HNL-DPS you'll see the flights. Now, whether they have award seats or not, I don't know.
