I've been researching this all day with no success, and it's clear I need some help from the pros.

My fiance and I would really like to go Bali for our honeymoon next year. I've been saving up AAdvantge miles for a few years now with this in mind. We'd really like to take first class, or at least business. I've got ~375k miles to work with, more than the 270k required. I don't mind spending some money if it would help, but my preference is to use miles.

We're in San Francisco, but can leave from pretty much anywhere on the West Coast -- LAX seems to be the most direct option. We're free to travel any time between 8/3/08 and 8/19/08.

I've talked to an American agent, who tells me that there are no award tickets available on JL or CX for any class, at any time in that period. Expert Flyer seems to confirm this (although would CX award tickets actually show up on EF?).

The agent said that buying coach tickets and upgrading them isn't an option, since AA upgrades can't be used on JL or CX.

On the advice of another poster, I also tried checking for award tickets into CGK, with no luck.

The agent said "keep checking back, some tickets may be released." That's a fine strategy normally, but unfortunately, I can't leave my honeymoon planning to the last minute. I need to make firm plans relatively soon.

So -- what would you do? Are there other strategies I can try? Any program exchanges that would help? (Perhaps I could pay for the flight if I could get a sweet hotel deal instead.)
