precision80, I love to deride not only AA but all airlines that charge an outrageous cash fee to transfer/ share miles into someone else's account. Given that 10K miles is worth $200 if even that, charging a $130 fee is tantamount to a bank charging $130 to move $200 from one acct. to another!

If your girlfriend has a Diners' Club card, she can convert 10K AA into 5K DC, then into 5K AA for your (or anyone else's) acct. Again y'all lose half!

10K AA can also be converted into 20K Hilton HHonors into anyone's acct. for a total fee of $25. This is halfway worth it only if the receiver already has HH points, because U can't get much for a measly 20K HH by itself.

Rewards Network is best if she just wants to extend the expiration date.
