Gold is just too easy to get?
Is BA gold to easy to get? I do my fair share of flying every 7 days I fly between Asia and London, having both a BA Gold Card and a CX Diamond card, the levels of service offered as premium tier holder are worlds apart. Is this because one can obtain a euro gold from as little as £2,640* and to reach CX Diamond takes 210,000 miles or at least £20,000. I am in a fortunate position to be able to maintain both cards due the level of flying
As an example:
CX 20 Kg Extra Baggage or extra piece
CX 24 hours guaranteed Business Class Seat (Unconditional) If booked in J or C
CX 24 hours guaranteed Economy Seat (Unconditional) in all but the 3 lowest fair classes, so those cheap tickets sold subject to availability are all yours for the taking
CX Free Op up on your birthday.
CX mileage upgrades to revenue seats, allowable up to 15 mins prior to departure
Free golf cart to gate (HKG)
No cancelling of your reservation up to 4 hours prior to departure.
Also the CX lounges both in LHR and HKG are never as busy as T4, whilst I know that we now have BA Gold Invitation, this still goes no where near the level of CX Diamond card.
Is it not time for BA to introduce a ruby tier (The only one world airline not to do so) and to reduce the number of gold card holders and offer this reduced number more attractive benefits to their most loyal customer base?
