On the other hand, my F breakfast a couple weeks ago between ANC-SEA was actually very nice and I'm sure preferable to whatever was being served in coach. The lasanga/salad combo on the lunch flight wasn't bad either, but I agree that pizza just doesn't belong on airplanes. The imfamous American Airlines pizza is a prime example. In fact I remember sitting next to a gentleman on AS flight once complaining about how AA had just served him pizza on the previous leg in F (dfw-san), and his claim was that AS would never dare to serve anything like that. That was about three years ago.
As far as paying hundreds more for F, depends on what's important to you. ANC-SEA you get a free digeplayer ($5 in coach on this route), let's say you have two glasses of wine (would have cost $5 each in coach) and you get the BOB meal for free in F ($5 in coach). A one-day boardroom pass is $30, whereas with F or F award you get in free. OK, so you just saved $50 you would have paid flying coach. Now, if you booked at the last minute, and the price of F was only $50 more than full-flex coach (which it is in some cases), that would have been money well spent, especially with the EQM 50% bonus flying F. But, if you just paid hundreds more for your ticket to fly F, was it really worth it? You have to figure out, how much is the extra seat width, priority security, first on/first off the plane worth since those are the subjective factors here. Personally, if it were the difference between $600 in coach and $1500 in F, I would not spend the money. But, I guess I'm also biased in that regard since I usually get upgraded anyway as a Gold.
