I forgot to mention that the ticket is refundable. As my trip is not definite yet, I was told to get refundable tickets to make sure I get seats on the flights I need. I clicked on "Refundable" online and the A fare was offered. You say that I am not bound by the 3 hour rule in this case, but wouldn't I have to pay any applicable addition in fare for the new flight if I don't do SDC? The direct flights were the cheapest refundable. I wanted some connections because I am short of MQMs to make Plat (not getting any of the targeted MQM promotions), so I need to make my itinerary a little longer.
