Narrative: The Air Canada Airbus A-321-211 aircraft (operating as ACA463) was departing on a scheduled IFR flight from Ottawa (M-CIA) (CYOW) to Toronto (LBPIA) (CYYZ). After departure off of runway 25, the flight crew reported that multiple bird strikes had occurred with a request for priority back to the airport and a request for the emergency vehicles. The aircraft landed without incident on runway 32 at 2218Z. Runway 25 was inspected and opened at 2219Z. There was damage to one of the aircraft's engines. Ops. impact -- one (1) arriving aircraft (CHQ7790) had a three (3) minute delay on arrival. NAV CANADA Operations Centre and T.S.B. Duty Investigator advised.

Narrative: UPDATE Supplemental information received from T.S.B. Initial Notification (#A07O0280): The Air Canada Airbus A-321 aircraft, operating as flight ACA463, took off from runway 25 at Ottawa (M-CIA) on a flight to Toronto (LBPIA). After the landing gear was raised, the airplane struck two (2) geese off the windshield and one goose went through the #1 engine, resulting in a momentary surge before the engine parameters became stable again. The flight crew turned onto a downwind for runway 32 and requested ARFF on standby. The flight landed without further incident and returned to the gate. The initial report is that the #l engine was damaged but a full damage assessment is not yet available.
