While I sympathize with the situation the OP was in, anger definitely doesn't help.

I've flown MU only once, from PEK - SHA, so I hardly have a large sample, but I actually found the service quite nice. I didn't know what to expect at first, but was happy. I was flying in a group. For some reason, two or three of the 50 of us had the segment cancelled, and they didn't find out till they got to the airport, but the check-in staff were nice and got them back on without issue. In the air, I would say that the service was better than most North American carriers I've been on.

In irregular ops, unfortuately, sometimes later scheduled flights leave before earlier scheduled ones. Its based on the aircraft - where it is and whether there, whether enroute, etc. I clearly remember what became a 9 hour layover at ORD some time ago on my way to Denver when there was heavy snow for about an hour. Several flights ended up out before mine, but because my plane was stuck in Grand Rapids, we didn't go anywhere. Unfortunately, this is how the airline industry works. If it didn't, there would further delays for days as aircraft's got back into position.
