The security screeners at BKK airport have been mis-informed and poorly trained when it come to the 'Liquid Ban'
They will confiscate any cosmetic product,
liquid or solid, that doesn't fit in the bag. They cannot be reasoned with. Dispite good english ability, they will refuse to budge.
Anything
over 100ml, even if not liquid/gel, will be taken.
Under 100ml, they allowed me 2 bags (liquids, solids, cosmetics (not mine

)) as there were 2 of us travelling.
Only by pure persistence was I able to convince him to let me switch the $40 items he wanted to take, for hotel shampoo etc that they'd managed to fit into the bags. Almost kicked off the flight, I wasn't about to throw hundreds of dollars of stuff away over their mis-interpretation of the rules.
A week later, I discovered the trick. CLEAR SEALED DUTY FREE bags are allowed through. Any size, any amount of liquid. My bottle of Canadian Whisky I bring as a gift wasn't even a subject of concern. As soon as they saw the Duty Free bag, they waived me through. I saved the bag for next time.
