Indeed, I made an AY claim on AA online 15 days after the trip ended. I did not fax or mail anything to AA. My miles and points were credited 2 weeks and 3 days later for four flights. Hope this helps.
This has worked for me in past too. The latest from summer, I submitted the online claim some 5 weeks after the flight as it hadn't posted, and then it took another 5 weeks to finally post. Not sure if my online claim had anything to do with it or if it was just related to the general AY-points-not-posting hassle.
I had done the same in May, though, and that time it took a week or too for the flights to post after the online claim.
