I'd try and get readings from a customers data center, but they won't even let cell phones in, so doubt I could get my PAA3 past the man trap.
I'd really appreciate it... Security at our data centers (not this one) is
also pretty tight. no cell phones, cameras etc.. nothing metallic and
laptops must be standard issue.

You HVAC installer should be able to get and install dampners under the HVAC unit. Basically rubber pads that sit between the unit and the floor. It is important that the bolts that attach the unit and duct work to the floor/walls/ceiling are isolated as well.
I hope its done that way.. I just need to get someone to check this for me.
(I wont be at that location for a while)
There is no duct work, we have overhead vents pointed in various directions.
Air velocity is very high.. but I'm not too concerned about this noise. Just
about the noise thats might get transmitted through the floor.

I think I have some info on sound absorption material used in live sound applications, but again it is at home so won't be able to get to it for a couple of days.
I've also asked Sun's account reps to look into this. I just got a call saying
some engineer is looking into this. I'll report what they say. If this happens
you do not need to take reading from your home systems.
