Although my last domestic transcon on a US carrier was like 2 years ago, I found AA's First (as they have no J) products very good. At least their meals were good. Can't say for the plastic cutlery though.

Never flew UA, so can't comment on it. But AS's West Coast F products are good even comparing to AC's J between YVR and Southern California.
