I suspected this was going to happen sooner or later to someone. KL has very few late London flights.

Someone at KL needs to start looking at customer experience. Or more of us will just stop caring about miles (and paying a bit more + cnxn just for the miles / brand loyalty) and fly instead the carriers that provide the best schedule / sense / price -- such as BA/BD, EZY.
In fact, the existance of standby (even for a small fee) for being late, will make me send more business to EZY in the future, this KL nonsense of having to buy a new ticket (essentially) for missing flights by minutes is just not acceptable...
