Thank you all for your replies. Much appreciated and very helpful! It seems that the LX flight departing at 08:45 would be a possible option...if it was only me, I would take the risk but my mother is joining us on this trip and I don't want to "explain" to her that we just missed our flight...

Yes, this flight would be perfectly timed. But I'll be using miles to get to MAN and as the flight back had no award space available at first, I therefore was out of luck. Now my options were booking another flight or playing on time, checking availability every day and waiting...Did the last thing and today M&M - finally - released some award space for this flight... ^

Yes, I know. Sorry if my post was misleading to others. As described above, we won't be on a single ticket so no IATCI is done by BD.
PS: Okay, we can now start discussing if it's worth spending miles on European awards. Well, I booked it as a FlySmart award so it "only" cost me 25000 miles (+ tax) and as I have some business to catch up during the flight, it was worth for me...
