My palms are sweaty. I haven't been able to eat properly for days.
My big concern, and this is really getting to me - is that due to the International Date Line .... will I miss out? I mean July 1 comes first here. Before anywhere else. Before Boston. Before Boise. Before Cambodia. Before Guatemala. Did anyone realise that? Huhhh?
What if I am the first one to try? Will that count against me? Will the computer let me in? What if there are no rooms left next to the elevators when I ask? Will I ever get an upgrade again if the elevator rooms are taken? These are things bothering me as I type.
This pressure is too much. It really is. All for a lousy 1000 points. I can't take it. They can go to charity. The points. To re-spray the chexmobile or some other very deserving cause. I will donate them somehow. I'll email them or fax them anywhere.
Thank you and goodnight. Well it is night here. But not there? It is confusing. Well it is afternoon, so it is neither. Technically. Hilton has done this to me. I do not know whether it is day or night anymore. All for 1000 points. It is just not worth it.
I am now drinking Pepsi like mad. And Dr. Pepper. And eating my steaks well done. My dog looks like a cat. It is snowing in Sydney. This is not normal. The weather has even changed due to these 1000 points.
It is NOT worth it folks. This promo is jinxed. It is like when Howard Carter entered King Tut's tomb. Yes he was greedy. And look what happened to him. Ever think about that? HUHHHH????? And all those other guys. 582 folks passed away in the next 2 weeks who were in that tomb.
I have a bad cold and my health is bad. The car battery went flat on me this morning. My bread is now stale in the fridge. There is rubbish on TV. Have you LOOKED at TV lately??? Before this Hilton promo it was fine. And the car started first time every time. I blame it on the promo.
I think this promo is having an effect on peace talks in the Middle East. I don't like to say it, but it checks out. Before this promo all those guys were pretty friendly. Remember? Arafat and the Israel guy used to shake hands on CNN and go to parties together. In read in The Star or somewhere they even went to Las Vegas for the weekend on Air Force One.
Not any more. Since this 1000 point thing came along they are yelling at each other. The temperature at Barrow Alaska has increased by 5º in this time. That is global warming. 40,000 penguins died only yesterday at McMurdo Base. That never used to occur. The plankton there is turning flouro pink. That is weird.
You would never have thought folks like Somalia or Turkey would play good soccer, and beat Argentina and Spain and France and Italy. NUTS. Hilton and their points are to blame for these things. Heck Italy WON the Olympics last time. Or someone did. But it sure at heck was not SOMALIA. Give me a break.
The NRA has noticed an increase in shooter licenses being granted. Now that might just mean a 20% increase in the number of drive bys, but there might be something more sinister being planned. Do we know? Of course not. Does the FBI? Will they tell the CIA. Of course not.
And what about Soylent Green? How do these Hilton points impact on that? If at all. Never on FT has that been discussed. Just to remind you all of the main points -
SOYLENT GREEN is set in the Big Apple that is rotten to the core. Smog is everywhere, humidity is constantly oppressive causing a green-house effect, space is at a premium, and the population explosion has crammed more than 40 million people in the greater New York City, many of whom live on the streets, in subways, in abandoned vehicles, or in burnt-out buildings.
Because real food costs are so much that no one can afford it, the government provides the people with a synthetic substitute, supposedly made from the plankton. Said to have all the vitamins and nutrients needed to maintain life, this pseudo-food is manufactured by a huge conglomerate known as the Soylent Company.
Starving people line up for their quota of 'Soylent Green' wafers, but when there appears to be a lack of the foodstuff, riots breakout. The cities' cops quell the trouble by scooping up the rioters with huge garbage-clearing contraptions. Charlton Heston (Thorn) is a detective who lives in a seedy apartment with Robinson, an aged researcher who is a walking data bank. Edward G. Robinson (Sol Roth ) is old enough that he can recall what real meat tasted like and what real soap felt like against one's skin. Joseph Cotten (William Simonson), an executive with the Soylent Company, is murdered by an assassin, and Heston gets the job of investigating the murder.
Uncovering the truth about the Soylent Company, Robinson is able to understand why Cotten became so desperate and that he more-or-less condoned his own death. This terrible truth is also too much for Robinson to bear, and he, too, decides that death is preferable to living with this secret. Robinson tells Heston what he's discovered about the horrifying truth behind 'Soylent Green'. Heston listens to the grim details in horror that such a thing could be taking place.
After Robinson dies, Heston leaves the clinic to find out if the story Robinson told him was true. Hiding aboard a truck filled with dead people who've elected to die at the clinic, Heston rides to the outskirts of the city to a huge factory. Inside, Heston can't believe his eyes as he watches the dead bodies being transported along a conveyor belt to a large manufacturing device, emerging at the other end of the line as the ubiquitous wafers of 'Soylent Green'.
Now that he knows the secret, Heston's life is worthless. Heston makes his way back to the city and tries to call his boss to tell someone else the horrible truth about 'Soylent Green'. He is stopped by gunshots being fired at him from behind. Heston runs for his life and is shot by Conner's thugs. As Heston is being carried off on a stretcher with blood dripping from his out stretched hand, he yells, "Soylent Green is PEOPLE!!!!"
All this is true. Well it might have been. Or it might be one day. And possibly all because of 1000 Hilton points. If that means we need to eat things like Soylent Green, it is not worth that effort. To me anyway. But others may beg to differ. I am OK with that.
Chexfan ..... I implore you. Please delete this thread. It is a worry to me. My tablets are not working anymore. And man I do try. I took 15 this afternoon, and that should have calmed me down. But I ate 3 pizzas, and 2 racks of ribs as I was a little jittery. Did not help at all to be honest - just gave me heartburn.
It will pass - it always does. Time to go to the United Forum now. Maybe I'll feel better then. No surveys to update THERE. They do not care if I like Queen beds or King beds. Not one soul at UA has ever asked me that. And I still get 250,000 United point a year. It is all very strange.
I might lay down now. I feel tired. Chexfan is going to delete the thread. That nice Gaucho and The Freak will see to it. They are swell guys. Aaaah, the roses smell nice today. I may go to the movies now. But maybe that is not a good idea.
Have a nice Christmas folks. I am going to have turkey again.
