Sorry, but this is the way the industry is going. As long as pax aren't willing to pay fares that allow the airlines to make a good profit, they're goint to collect money for lots of incidentals.
Look at the airlines that charge next to nothing for their tickets and charge for everything from carry-ons to a glass of water.
Put another way, should the passenger who never requests lots of extra services pay for those who do?
