If your friend upgraded you online using their CR1 instrument then you are all set. Moving CR1's out of an account that they are signed into settles the issue of having to sign a "bluey" to prove who that person is if, say, the upgrade was done over the phone. If however, it was done over the phone, then a trip to the airport may be needed by your friend to sign the bluey.
This is correct.
Sponsored upgrades may be marked "Confirmed" in "My Itineraries" but that only means the CR-1 has been
applied; it needs to be
authorized as well. If the CR-1 is applied online, then it is also (usually) authorized. If it is done over the phone, then it is
not authorized and must be signed for at the airport. Don't make the mistake of seeing "confirmed" and assuming you are good to go. The question is whether it is "authorized."
