I visited China in 2004 and bought a First Class ticket on Expedia which was Shanghai - Beijing - Xian - Chengdu - Shanghai. It cost about £350 all in IIRC. I bought other tickets outside that itinary when I was in China for an extra trip I decided on at the last minute from Chengdu into the Chinese Lakes, as that was kind of tricky to sort out on Expedia, but fairly straightfoward once in China.
The advantage of F in China is that it is VERY flexible - you can even change airlines. Also, the queue's for economy are really quite dreadful, whereas F check in desks are an oasis of calm by comparison. And for such convenience, the price was excellent value.
The F product is very nice. The seats are very comfortable, although the food is , well, not very international shall we say

But it was fine I guess. The business lounges are nothing to write home about though!
