BA8700 LCY-EDI vs the sleeper train

I have to get a colleague from NZ to a meeting at 10am in Edinburgh next Friday. Have been quoted a steep £311.30 each for this flight which gets in at 830am (we need flexibility for the return). Can I ask the regulars about the on-time performance of this flight?

It has occurred to me that the sleeper service from Euston which leaves at around 11pm on Thursday night and gets in to Edinburgh Waverly station at 6am could be a viable alternative. We have a function in the City that should finish around 930pm so the timings are good. We'd still fly back. Need to check out pricing. Any experience of the train in here?

Thanx, James
