Without an iPod, the only advantage is that the Bose units are easier to use, for wake time setting and also radio tuning.

Fair enough. But why not provide a more convenient clock radio that works better, and as a bonus better serves the large number of guests with iPods?

I will say that the Hilton radios work well, on the off chance that staff has actually checked that the buttons are set to something, that the antenna wire is unwound, etc.. I'd have to say that in 40-odd stays this year, only 2 hotels had the radios set up properly.
Like I said, I find it annoying to have to go all the way around if you overshoot the alarm time. Plus, I'd rather find my own station that choose something they picked, which as you note is often static anyway.
