My conditional approval notification said the same (mortgage or rent receipts) and I also had neither of those. I did my interview at YYZ last week and was only asked for my passport and driver's license. I did take with me my home phone, utility and city tax statements but never was questioned on showing evidence of residence (other than the driver's license).
