I think the 727's were the whisperjets. As far as 717's several airlinbes have them in service (I think air-tran and TWA are the only ones in the US so far). Remember, as far as comfort goes, it is not so much the manufacturers to blame but the airlines who specify number of seats, pitch, gallies, etc. I can't wait to see how many seats someone will try to cram into the new Airbus superjumbo (don't get your hopes up for all the Airbus hype such as bars).
