It is highly advisable to pay the 80 cents or whatever it is by mail, because they do take a picture of your license plate and will definitely fine you if you don't.
Unfortunately I was driving a rental car, and don't know the plate. And when I called the car company, they weren't able to look it up for me. I'll try again in a few days.
