I had a chance to speak with Larry Kellner in between the Q&A sessions and he was very interested in talking about the bunker. I asked whether Tropical Storm Allison had effected their operations in downtown and whether or not that was a signal to them that something had to be done.

I was told that though they didn't lose their data center during Allison they lost all of their connections to the outside world (fiber) except one and were down to a few generators for keeping the place running. He said after the Medical Center, the downtown office of Continental was next in line for emergency supply on the Mayor's list.

It is very interesting to me to hear stories like that as I worked for a company that lost just about everything in the downtown flood. Their entire data center was underground and was written off when everything finally dried out. Hearing Larry's concern about those issues was good and it was equally interesting to hear his enthusiasm over the bunker.
