Hate to burst your bubble, but it might have just been the result of a catering shortage. If we were going to start carrying Piper on all flights we would have been noticed by the schmucks at F&B. It was most likely the result of a station being out of the splits and boarding some of the "good stuff" because that was all they had....
To be honest, champagne is not really all that popular. I fly #1 on the S80 all the time and it is rare for someone to ask for champagne. If they do want some, I have found they ask for a mimosa, and usually they are non-revs. On my flights it seems folks want the Bloody Mary's and the Gin & Tonics.
Oh and do me a favor..... if you are going to ask for Glenlivet, please don't ask for it with Ginger Ale. I am amazed at the folks who want to drink a single malt with something other than ice. Yikes! I think they will hang you in Scotland for doing that.
