It so happens JL also serves Piper Heidsieck in its J class... However, the bottle size vary:
On fully loaded flights, 750ml bottles are opened,
On lightly loaded flights, 187ml bottles (the mini-Piper) are given out.
If in fact AA switches to Piper Heidsieck, I think they may employ similar strategy to minimize waste.
The ORD FL indeed serves two Piper's.....when I was there last time, one was Piper Heidsieck (red bottle), the other was the CA produced Piper-Sonoma.
On a side note:
I wonder if many will even know the difference between:
Piper Sonoma
Piper Heidsieck
Heidsieck Monopole
Charles Heidsieck

The first two are regularly on offer in the ORD FL. Naturally, I only choose the Heidsieck.
I'd like to see Veuve Clicquot or Krug on offer in AA F (non-three class

) but I know that's not happening.
