So you have a choice between legitimately getting on the list and most likely getting the seats that CO can't otherwise sell, or providing CO with a reason to continue to fly with empty seats and take them away from both yourself and everyone else. And you're going to choose the option that ensures that seats continue to go out empty rather than have upgraders in them.
