I do realize you have no status with UA. However you are AE SE. You give AC substantial J-Revenue.Trust me they will work with you to get you the J-seat for your wife. I have never had issue with AE SE not getting me a J-seat for my family for international award even during heavy travel period.

Just call back AE SE Desk, ask them to have a Lead Agent call you back if SE Agent gives you hassle.

You are spending so much time on an issue which is so simple to resolve.

You will have to pay a booking fee, worth it IMHO to get a free J-award.
I think I will call Mileage Plus first, and hopefully the agent will give me general information, esp to a nonMP member. I will then call the SE again, and as you suggested - perhaps speak to a supervisor.

However, I do like getting documentation (ie email responses) of regulations - so if the situation arises again, I can use the email message to deal with the issue (with Aeroplan), without going through the whole story. I will therefore ask the UA forum, about the general email address, to MP. I will then simulataneously send a message to MP/AE.

The booking fee is a non-factor; it has no bearing in terms of my plans as to how to proceed.
