I can't believe the gov't would need to get involved in this, since it would seem to be equally in the airlines' interest to apply this common sense (as they have in the past).

Yet, as you can see, there are frequent flyers who are somehow passionate about being able to see "whatever they want" on the overhead screens. They seem completely unsympathetic to the rather modest needs/desires of parents (and others who would prefer less edgier fare). Even more shocking, though, was the statement by Delta's inflight manager that they are consciously moving to edgier overhead fare, specifically "boasting" of his airline's decision to show the very adult oriented "Georgia Rule."

If common sense does not prevail, I can assure everyone that the parents of America will force Congress to intervene. I doubt there are more than a handful of elected officials who would support Delta's "right" to show "Georgia Rule" on the overheads. And in their zeal to stomp out such "filth," I also suspect that Congress might try to overreach -- like that stupid legislation to establish kid-free zones. It sure seems like self-regulation and common sense would benefit everyone.

You know, iahphx, we've tried to be civil with you and I agree completely with PTravel post because you need to learn the meaning of the word "courtesy" simply because you have none of it.

Delta caters to the adult buisness traveler, not parents of whiny little children, who view the world as somewhere where their children should be hidden from violence. Think of the children in Darfur, the same age as perhaps your kids, and yet they have seen their fair share of violence; and not on the movie screens either.

To conclude; do what ever you like, talk to Congress get them to regulate IFE but you will be remembered by every adult being forced to watch a kid movie on a plane as the person who stopped them from watching a suitable adult movie.
