Background: CX880/15 Aug HKG-LAX was delayed 10.5 hours. We were held aboard the aircraft at HKG for 5 of those hours, then sent to the Airport Regal Hotel.
Once the flight left, CX passed out a "One-Way Upgrade" coupon, good on a standby basis. Because I don't want to travel standby, I returned their coupon via regular mail and asked if they would make the coupon a "confirmed one-way upgrade".
Today, 28 Sep, and 2 weeks after I returned the coupon, I received 50,000 Asia Miles as a Goodwill Gesture (enough for a one-way upgrade after 15 Oct with the new reward chart) in my account.
Note: I was travelling on a paid First Class ticket which may have figured into this Goodwill Gesture.
