this thread has turned from talking about the 777 to luggage and the 747. lol

Anyway the window storage on the UD is great, I would always put my backpack/bookbag that I use as my carry on bag in there and it was quite full, but fit. Perfect for storing things that you might need during the flight!

In regards to Y and how people who've never flown up front would feel about 777 CW, I'm sure they'd like it. I was looking at seatmaps for Virgin Atlantic's planes last night, was shocked at how large their Y cabins are on almost all of their planes! Went back to row 65 on some, 9 across.

Anyway as an update: I booked my flights, am in CW on a 777 on Jan 1st. Will try to take one of the rows 12-13 the window seat I think as I'll try to sleep, thus not needing to get up much in the night. 747 in WT+ on the way back, going to try and snag 28B like 2 years ago...I think that seat has more "legroom" than any on the entire plane. I wonder what the bean counters were thinking when they designed that cabin and left out 2 seats
