Does anyone have any experiences carrying on a guitar on AF flights?

I have never flown them before and would like to determine whether it is worth trying. I'll be flying JFK-CDG and then CDG intra-Europe. I leave early tomorrow, so if anyone has any insights today, that would be great. Thanks
