When I lived in PHL, I bought a bunch of US's $158 r/t tix to LAX and just went to the airport after work, flew across the country, stayed on the same plane in LAX, and arrived home before work the next day.

The routing you have sounds interesting, if you find a lot of spare time in your itinerary, you could take out one or two of the connections and try for a PHL-MSP-LAX-MSP-PHL type routing and do it twice or three times over the course of the couple days in PHL.

Sometimes, less is more.
