Oh, I got my letter about the cancellation of Points Accelerator way back, it just happens to be taking effect as of next Monday (and that's when I'm moving to another Amex card, heh). I realise that the Gold card w/PA was the _best_ product - hell, I racked up almost 190,000 in a year and a half of having it through ... focus and concentration.

As such, it comes as no surprise that they'd can the Gold card... but the Platinum card, I would expect, would be exempt from it, if only because it caters to a slightly different audience (Aeroplan Platinum = Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge access, etc., whereas Platinum Card - Delta and other US airlines)... so I'd have figured it would have been different. Hence my surprise - I was doing "mileage consulting" to someone at work, and I was suggesting he get the Platinum card, until he phoned in and was told that they have these weird new tiers and it's basically worthless now.
Quite unfortunate, really. This leaves no decent alternatives for accumulating Aeroplan miles rapidly (1.5 miles/$ with the CIBC Aerogold at
grocery stores only, ha).
